NMDC Infra Acquires 51% Stake in Spain’s Lantania Aguas, Marking NMDC Group’s First European Market Entry
NMDC Group (ADX: NMDC), a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction, and marine dredging, has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, NMDC Infra, has signed a strategic agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Spain’s Lantania Aguas, the water and wastewater subsidiary of Grupo Lantania. The move marks NMDC Group’s first entry into the European market, further expanding its global footprint and diversification strategy.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lantania Aguas will be rebranded as Lantania NMDC Water following completion of the acquisition, with Grupo Lantania retaining the remaining 49% stake. The existing management team of Lantania Aguas will continue to lead the company, ensuring business continuity and operational strength. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Strategic Expansion into the Water and Wastewater Sector
The acquisition expands NMDC Infra’s portfolio into the water desalination, treatment, and purification sectors, aligning with the Group’s goal of addressing global challenges related to water scarcity and sustainable resource management.
Combining NMDC’s extensive technical and commercial capabilities with Lantania’s engineering expertise, Lantania NMDC Water will emerge as a global operator in water infrastructure. The company will employ over 300 professionals and manage a project backlog exceeding AED 2 billion across several countries.
Operating under a joint management structure, the newly formed entity will strengthen its technological, financial, and operational capacity, supporting growth across key regions, including the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
