Ministry of Economy Celebrates Emirati Women's Day 2024, Showcases Initiatives for Women Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Economy (MoEc) marked Emirati Women's Day 2024 with a dedicated event celebrating the achievements and contributions of Emirati women entrepreneurs. The event, held under the patronage of H.E. Alia bint Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, and H.E. Badreya Al Maidoor, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of Economy, brought together prominent Emirati women entrepreneurs, AI specialists, and technology experts.

The event featured panel discussions and workshops focusing on the pivotal role of Emirati women in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), the essential traits of successful entrepreneurs, and shared inspiring stories from successful Emirati women in business.

H.E. Alia Al Mazrouei highlighted the UAE's unwavering support for Emirati women across various sectors, attributing this commitment to the country’s wise leadership. She emphasized that Emirati women have become integral partners in the nation’s economic growth, driving development and innovation across all sectors. "This event underscores the Ministry's belief in the vital role of Emirati women in society and their significant achievements in various fields, making them a source of pride and inspiration on both regional and global stages," Al Mazrouei stated.

In her remarks, H.E. Alia Al Mazrouei also expressed deep gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, for her tireless efforts in empowering Emirati women. She praised Her Highness's dedication to providing the necessary resources and support to cultivate leadership among women, significantly enhancing their status both regionally and internationally.

"The Emirati Women's Day event is a key opportunity to connect with and listen to women entrepreneurs, encouraging them to develop innovative projects across diverse economic sectors, especially in emerging fields like technology and AI," said Al Mazrouei. She added that the event serves as a platform for discussing the future of entrepreneurship in the UAE, exchanging best practices, and addressing challenges that hinder the growth of women-led ventures.

H.E. Al Mazrouei reiterated the Ministry of Economy’s commitment to launching innovative initiatives and programs aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and SME owners. These initiatives are designed to support women in establishing their businesses, engaging in economic activities, and gaining the skills needed for the job market. This aligns with the UAE's broader vision of becoming a global hub for entrepreneurship and the new economy by 2031, as outlined in the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision.

The event also highlighted the National SME Programme, which offers a range of benefits to support Emirati women entrepreneurs in developing and expanding their businesses. A panel discussion titled "Emirati Women in the Age of AI: Inspirational Stories and Personal Journeys" showcased the achievements of Emirati women in AI. Additionally, a workshop on "Fundamentals and Key Traits of Successful Emirati Female Entrepreneurs" provided valuable insights into the qualities needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving business landscape of the UAE.
