Milestone Systems Launches XProtect 2026 R1 and Arcules Updates to Strengthen Smart City Security

Milestone Systems has announced the launch of XProtect 2026 R1 and major enhancements to its Arcules VSaaS platform, introducing new capabilities designed to strengthen urban security operations, simplify system management, and expand cloud flexibility across the Middle East.

The announcement comes as countries across the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, continue to accelerate large-scale urban transformation initiatives under programmes such as Saudi Vision 2030. With smart cities and giga-projects rapidly evolving, security technology is increasingly being integrated into urban planning as a proactive tool for resilience, safety, and operational efficiency.

Advanced Security for Smart Cities

Firas Al-Beiruti said the scale of urban development across the Middle East requires a shift toward intelligent and integrated security infrastructures capable of anticipating risks and supporting safer urban environments.

He noted that the latest XProtect and Arcules enhancements are designed to provide flexibility, operational intelligence, and scalable cloud capabilities that align with the region’s ambitious infrastructure and smart city projects.

XProtect Remote Manager Introduces Automated Reporting

A major feature of the new release is the expansion of XProtect Remote Manager, a browser-based management tool available to Milestone Care Plus customers.

The updated platform introduces:

  • Customizable and scheduled reporting
  • Automated system performance insights
  • Visual dashboards for health metrics and maintenance tracking
  • Simplified reporting for enterprise decision-makers

The new reporting tools aim to reduce manual administrative workloads while improving visibility across complex, multi-site deployments.

According to the company, the enhancements benefit:

  • System administrators through streamlined workflows
  • Business leaders through simplified operational insights
  • Service providers via scalable reporting capabilities
  • End-users through improved transparency and accountability

Additional XProtect 2026 R1 Features

The latest release also includes:

  • A redesigned LogServer interface for centralized troubleshooting
  • Mobile client updates allowing operators to revisit feature archives
  • Expanded compatibility support for more than 16,300 verified devices

The updated device pack adds compatibility for 181 new devices from 15 technology partners.

Arcules Expands Cloud-Native Security

Milestone also announced significant updates to its Arcules cloud platform, including expanded camera-to-cloud support for Axis multi-sensor and i-PRO cameras, enabling direct cloud integration without on-site hardware.

New long-term cloud video storage capabilities now allow organizations to securely archive and retrieve video footage for compliance and investigative purposes without maintaining physical storage infrastructure.

Additional features include:

  • WebSocket-based PTZ controls for faster real-time camera movement
  • Mobile alert thumbnails for iOS devices to improve incident response

Supporting the Region’s Digital Transformation

Andy Burnett said the updates reflect the company’s dual focus on strengthening core platform intelligence while accelerating cloud-based security solutions.

Industry analysts note that demand for intelligent video management systems and scalable cloud security is increasing rapidly across the GCC as governments and developers invest heavily in smart infrastructure, urban resilience, and digital transformation.

The latest Milestone releases are expected to support organizations operating across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments as regional cities continue to modernize their security ecosystems.
