MBRF’s KnowTalks Highlights Resilience and Cyber Safety in the Digital Age

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation hosted a new series of sessions under its flagship KnowTalks programme, focusing on psychological resilience and cyber safety as essential skills for navigating the challenges of the digital era.

The sessions attracted strong online participation and brought together experts and practitioners to discuss strategies for managing uncertainty, adapting to rapid change, and protecting individuals from growing cyber threats.

Building Resilience in Times of Change

The first session, titled “Meeting Change with Resilient Minds,” featured Saliha Afridi, who explored the increasing uncertainty people face across work, health, and social environments.

Dr. Afridi explained that the human brain often interprets uncertainty as a threat, triggering fear and stress responses that may lead to chronic anxiety and burnout if not properly managed.

The session emphasized that psychological resilience is a skill that can be developed through continuous practice rather than an innate characteristic. Participants were introduced to a practical framework for managing uncertainty based on five key capabilities:

  • Regulating the nervous system
  • Improving mental flexibility
  • Encouraging curiosity and positive thinking
  • Strengthening supportive social connections
  • Reinforcing inner stability and personal identity

Cyber Safety Takes Centre Stage

The second session, titled “Be Cyber Smart: Stay One Step Ahead,” was led by Afraa Al Mansoori, who highlighted the growing importance of cyber awareness in everyday digital life.

The session addressed common online threats faced by internet users, including:

  • Phishing attacks
  • Fraudulent websites
  • Malware
  • Identity theft
  • Financial scams

Participants also received practical guidance on improving online safety, including enabling two-factor authentication, verifying website authenticity, updating systems regularly, and avoiding the sharing of sensitive personal information.

Strengthening Knowledge and Community Awareness

Through KnowTalks, MBRF continues to position itself as a leading knowledge-sharing platform that promotes meaningful dialogue and equips individuals with the psychological and technical skills needed to address modern-day challenges.

The initiative reflects the foundation’s broader commitment to enhancing community awareness, supporting lifelong learning, and transforming global challenges into opportunities for growth and resilience.
