Lockheed Martin Honors 56 Interns at Third Annual CISS Graduation Ceremony in Abu Dhabi

Lockheed Martin celebrated the achievements of 56 UAE interns during the third annual graduation ceremony for its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS) internship program. The event, held on January 30 at the Marriott Hotel Al Forsan, also honored 15 alumni from previous cohorts, emphasizing the company’s dedication to advancing STEM education and developing human capital in the UAE.

Launched in 2017 with just four students, the CISS internship program has grown significantly, now offering year-round opportunities to meet the increasing demand. The 2024 cohort comprised 37% women and 55% Emirati nationals, reflecting Lockheed Martin's ongoing commitment to diversity and Emiratization.

The ceremony, hosted by Gen. John Nicholson, Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin Middle East, and CISS Manager Hala Majeed Al Zargani, featured innovative projects developed by the students in areas such as artificial intelligence for debris identification, defense systems modeling, and space exploration. Dignitaries, business leaders, and academics attended the event, highlighting the importance of the program in preparing future talent for critical industries.

“Developing human capital is vital for building a knowledge-based economy in the UAE,” said Gen. Nicholson. “Through our STEM-focused internship program, we are equipping the next generation with the skills needed to drive innovation and support economic growth, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors.”

Al Zargani praised the graduates for their technical expertise and innovative thinking. “Their work on real-world projects prepares them for success in industries that will shape the future,” she said. “The skills they have gained will be essential for solving complex challenges in critical sectors.”

The CISS program offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge fields, providing students with the opportunity to work on projects in artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation for defense systems, and space exploration, supporting Lockheed Martin’s commitment to Emiratization and the cultivation of local talent.
