Lexus Design Award 2021: Call for Entries Now Open.

Lexus has lately started the Lexus Design Award 2021 and is inviting on skilled creators from throughout the world to present their entries to its yearly design competition.

Now in its ninth edition, the prestigious prize gives a different platform for striving artists to promote and showcase their skills on the international stage.

Established in 2013, the program proceeds to develop and encourage changes in perspective from developing creators whose products can lead to a more vigorous future. Lexus remains dedicated to promoting tomorrow's talented artists by presenting a launchpad for their works that offers world-class mentoring, prototype funding, and exceptional international exposure.

Every year, the competition draws thousands of entries from throughout the world. The designs submitted span a diverse array of disciplines, ranging from industrial design, architecture, and engineering to interior design and fashion design.

Applicants are urged to generate innovative ideas and creative solutions that highlight the artistic interplay between design and technology.

One Grand Prix champion will be chosen from among six finalists by an esteemed deciding panel of today's most prominent personalities in art, design, and technology. Past judges have included renowned luminaries Paola Antonelli, Aric Chen, and Sir David Adjaye.

The judges' decision will be based on three key principles of the Lexus brand: Anticipate, Innovate, and Captivate, with an accent on a design that leads to a better tomorrow. We are thrilled to launch the 2021 version of the Lexus Design Award and encourage emerging creatives to share their ideas with the world.

The award signifies a novel opportunity for skilled young designers to change their ideas into interesting new possibilities with the help of experienced industry experts, said Kei Fujita, Chief Representative, Middle East and Central Asia Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation.

Pushing the limits and going beyond the current is at the heart of Lexus way to design, and these awards underscore our dedication to encouraging the great minds of tomorrow to predict the future and build wondrous experiences. I would like to extend my appreciation to design lovers around the world for their constant support, which adds to the awards success and works as a powerful motive in our quest to reveal creative solutions to tomorrows challenges by brave design.

In early 2021, Lexus will declare the six finalists who will go on to compete in a seminar with world-class design specialists acting as mentors. Each member will get up to JPY 3 million (over USD 25,000) to improve their ideas into real prototypes, and will also profit from regular follow-ups and advice. Mentors established for this years program include Nigerien architect Mariam Kamara, Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis, and the sought- after American creative and entrepreneur Joe Doucet.

The complete list of Lexus Design Award 2021 judges and mentors will be announced in the fall of 2020.
