Knowledge Lounge Unveils Diverse Line-Up of Knowledge and Creative Events for August
The Knowledge Lounge, an initiative by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), has launched a wide-ranging program of events for August aimed at fostering a sustainable, knowledge-based society and encouraging a culture of reading in everyday life.
The events, designed for participants of all ages across the UAE and internationally, combine knowledge-sharing activities, creative workshops, and interactive discussions. The agenda reflects the initiative’s mission to promote engagement, expertise, and innovation through literature and learning.
The program opened in Canada with a discussion of the educational book Our Children Are Gems, But We Are Blacksmiths and a social media-driven activity titled What Are You Reading?, where participants shared book recommendations via Instagram videos. Other highlights included the Writer of the Future workshop, aimed at enhancing young people’s writing skills, and The Art of Public Speaking workshop, designed to build communication confidence.
As part of MBRF’s Our Knowledge Summer initiative, children explored human values through a reading of The Little Prince. Creative expression was further encouraged through the We Create an Illustrated Story workshop, while the Youth Knowledge Club hosted a timely discussion on Artificial Intelligence and Literature: Challenges and Opportunities. In Al Ain, readers engaged in a session on the novel Azazel.
Expanding beyond the UAE, Alexandria hosted the Book from My Library session, promoting cross-border knowledge sharing. In Sharjah and Ajman, collective reading sessions of Finding Your Voice emphasized dialogue through shared literary experiences. Children also participated in the Little Calligrapher of Knowledge workshop, where they learned Arabic calligraphy while developing aesthetic appreciation.
The initiative featured additional creative workshops, including Diary Writing, which encouraged participants to record personal experiences, and Stories Inspired by Pictures, bridging art and storytelling. In Khorfakkan, a session on personal finance management highlighted the importance of economic awareness. Abu Dhabi hosted a reading of Ikigai, introducing the Japanese philosophy of purposeful living, followed by a Writing Lounge session focused on literary works.
Marking Emirati Women’s Day, the Knowledge Lounge held a special event in Fujairah highlighting women’s voices in literature. The month’s program concludes with sessions in Dubai showcasing Emirati women’s literary contributions and in Al Ain with a reading of a novel exploring philosophical and emotional themes.
Throughout August, additional interactive activities will be hosted, including Whose Doll Is This?, Your Favourite Character: Let’s Create It Together (combining drawing and literature), the Read Book Series workshop, which introduces educational titles, and repeat sessions of Little Calligrapher of Knowledge and Let’s Create an Illustrated Story.
By offering this wide spectrum of events across various cities, the Knowledge Lounge continues to reaffirm its commitment to spreading knowledge, nurturing creativity, and fostering a culture of innovation and dialogue.
