Huawei's Yang Chaobin Highlights 5.5G as Key to Unlocking Mobile AI Potential

Speaking at the 15th Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF) in Istanbul, Huawei's Board Member and President of ICT Products and Solutions, Yang Chaobin, emphasized the role of 5.5G technology in propelling the mobile AI era forward. He stated that evolving 5.5G technology will be critical in unlocking the full potential of mobile AI, fostering new opportunities for the mobile industry and shaping the future of digital connectivity.

Yang highlighted two pivotal trends: "Mobile going AI," where new service models transform mobile internet services, and "AI going Mobile," unlocking opportunities in sectors like smart vehicles and robotics. Huawei identified three main impacts on the ICT industry: AI agents reshaping mobile internet, smart driving redefining mobility, and generalized embodied intelligence advancing productivity.

According to Yang, 5.5G networks will meet the demands of the mobile AI era through advances in five key areas:

  1. Enhanced bandwidth to meet diverse user experience needs.
  2. Reduced IoT costs with support for all-scenario IoT connections.
  3. Differentiated experience assurance with unified portals for monetization.
  4. Affordable mobile AI services via 5.5G's native AI service portal.
  5. Network autonomy via Huawei’s Telecom Foundation Model, promising high-level intelligence and reliability.
