Huawei Unveils AI-Centric Network Solutions at MWC Barcelona 2025, Seeks to Maximize 5G Value in the Age of AI

At MWC Barcelona 2025, Huawei has unveiled its latest AI-driven network solutions, highlighting how artificial intelligence can maximize the value of 5G networks. Li Peng, Huawei's Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ICT Sales & Service, along with Yang Chaobin, Director of the Board and CEO of the ICT Business Group, detailed the transformative role of AI in 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies. The executives emphasized how AI and 5G-A will drive exponential growth in data usage and revenue generation.

Revolutionizing Networks for AI-Powered Connectivity

Li Peng highlighted the increasing prevalence of intelligent applications and the demand for more advanced networks. “By embracing and evolving 5G, we can unlock the infinite potential of mobile networks. Huawei is committed to working with carriers and industry partners globally to bring AI into every aspect of network operations and services,” he stated.

The rise of high-quality, low-cost, open-source AI models is accelerating technological evolution, impacting areas from consumer interactions to organizational efficiency. AI is reshaping human-machine interaction (HMI), moving beyond text-based communication to incorporate voice, gestures, and other multi-modal formats, necessitating network advancements that guarantee lower latency and enhanced connectivity. Carriers are urged to transition from 5G NSA to 5G SA and eventually to 5G-A, leveraging innovative technologies like Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) and Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) for optimal network performance.

Huawei’s AI-Centric Network Solution

Huawei introduced its AI-Centric Network solution, designed to help carriers harness the power of AI for network optimization and service monetization. Yang Chaobin outlined the four-layered framework of the solution:

  1. All-Domain Connectivity: AI and network integration optimize resource orchestration, ensuring seamless, high-bandwidth, and SLA-assured intelligent applications.

  2. Application-Oriented O&M: Huawei’s Telecom Foundation Model enables predictive and proactive network operations, improving troubleshooting efficiency by 30%.

  3. Enhanced AI-to-X Services: AI-driven networks allocate bandwidth, latency, and reliability according to specific needs, enabling advanced AI applications in public services.

  4. Innovative Business Models: Carriers can explore new monetization avenues, moving beyond traditional traffic-based pricing to experience-based revenue models.

Scaling Up 5G-A Deployment

The deployment of 5G-Advanced networks is gaining momentum, with more than 200 cities worldwide adopting the technology. Chinese carriers, collaborating with over 100 industries, are leveraging Open APIs to introduce AI New Calling services, significantly boosting industry revenue.

According to industry forecasts, by 2030, over a billion users will rely on cloud-based services, requiring rapid access to computing power. Furthermore, intelligent in-vehicle applications will necessitate uninterrupted network coverage across urban and rural regions.

Shaping the Future with AI and 5G

“As 5G-Advanced deployment accelerates in 2025, AI will play a critical role in reshaping business models, infrastructure, and operations,” said Li Peng. “Huawei is committed to driving this transition alongside carriers and industry stakeholders worldwide.”

MWC Barcelona 2025 runs from March 3 to March 6 in Barcelona, Spain. Huawei is showcasing its latest innovations at stand 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1.
