Huawei and du Achieve Milestone with First Indoor 5G-Advanced Network Deployment in the Middle East
Huawei, in partnership with du from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), has marked a major milestone in the region’s telecom sector with the commercial deployment of the first indoor 5G-Advanced network in the Middle East. Powered by Huawei’s 5G LampSite, this achievement positions du as a leader in the 5G user experience market, delivering peak data speeds of 5.1 Gbps.
The success follows du’s collaboration with Huawei since 2021, when they introduced the first ubiquitous indoor gigabit-per-second (Gbps) network. The newly deployed 5G LampSite focuses on enhancing connectivity in high-demand indoor environments like shopping malls, hotels, airports, and residential areas.
As a pioneer in 5G, du’s network now handles over 60% of total mobile traffic through 5G services, surpassing the combined traffic of 4G and 3G networks. The introduction of Three Carrier Aggregation on its In-Building Solution (IBS) network has further improved network quality and user satisfaction.
Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, highlighted: "Since launching 5G in 2019, we have introduced numerous innovative services, with our 5G home wireless offerings receiving wide acclaim. The new Three Carrier Aggregation strengthens our network, ensuring a leading 5G experience and boosting customer satisfaction."
Eric Bao, President of Huawei's Wireless Digital Indoor System Product Line, added: "With the fast-paced growth of 5G technology, innovations like smart vehicles and humanoid robots demand networks with higher capacity and efficiency. LampSite X enables operators to build intelligent, high-performance indoor networks to meet the growing demand."
As part of its ongoing commitment to the UAE’s connectivity goals, du continues to implement advanced technologies that push the boundaries of network capabilities, ensuring a superior experience for its customers.
