Hosted by Khalifa University, 8th RoboCup Asia-Pacific in Abu Dhabi advances young innovators’ skills in robotics and AI
Khalifa University of Science and Technology has announced the winners of the 8th edition of RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, highlighting the UAE’s growing prominence as a global center for robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.
The competition brought together more than 160 teams and over 700 participants, attracting nearly 2,000 researchers, industry professionals, students, and visitors from around the world. The event featured eight leagues and 15 sub-leagues, including soccer, humanoid robotics, and rescue challenges, showcasing the latest advancements in AI-driven autonomous solutions.
Teams from Russia dominated the awards with 19 wins, followed by South Korea with 15 honors, reflecting the strong international participation and competitiveness of the event.
Winners and Key Achievements
During the awards ceremony, outstanding teams across RoboCupJunior, CoSpace, Rescue, and Humanoid leagues were recognized. Participants from Russia, India, South Korea, Indonesia, China, Egypt, Pakistan, Croatia, Taiwan, and the UAE delivered exceptional performances, demonstrating the rising global impact of the RoboCup Asia-Pacific platform.
Khalifa University teams also achieved notable results, securing second and third places in the Humanoid 3-versus-3 and 4-versus-4 leagues. Additionally, two UAE teams earned distinctions in the Junior and CoSpace categories, reinforcing the nation’s growing expertise in robotics, AI, and autonomous systems.
Strengthening the UAE’s Robotics Ecosystem
RCAP 2025 is one of several major robotics and AI events hosted in Abu Dhabi, contributing to the development of the country’s innovation ecosystem. The event provided Emirati students and researchers with hands-on exposure to advanced robotics technologies, opportunities to compete at an international level, and the chance to engage directly with global experts.
The competition served as a collaborative platform where researchers, engineers, and students exchanged ideas, tested emerging technologies, and developed solutions aimed at advancing autonomous systems worldwide.

RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025 was organized by Khalifa University with the support of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, as part of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025.
The event was backed by key partners including Mubadala (Strategic Partner), Etisalat e& (Gold Sponsor), and the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Supporter), underscoring the UAE’s commitment to driving innovation in robotics, AI, and sustainable technological advancement.
