HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum visits Empower exhibit at WETEX2015
His Highness Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA, visited Empowers stand at the 17th edition of Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) today, to witness the companys 2014 milestones and future plans. He also visited the model of Empowers third district cooling plant in Business Bay, Dubai.
Empower has achieved a 6.8% capacity growth in 2014, it was revealed.
According to the companys Annual Statistics report, released during the exhibition, total cooling capacity for Empower reached 1,045,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) in 2014, up from 978,000 RT from the previous year.
In just over a decade, we have grown from a single temporary plant to the worlds largest district cooling services provider, said Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower. No matter the economic- cycle, we have achieved a consistent rate of growth, which is a testament to the sound development strategy we employ. This advancement is also attributed to our close partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the visionary leadership of the government of Dubai and the hard work of our team.
Empowers systems use up to 50% less energy for air conditioning, leading the company to avail of significant electricity savings. In 2014, the company saved 836MW in power plant capacity.

As of 2014, Empower services around 50,000 corporate and individual customers in approximately 750 buildings. The company holds 70% of Dubais district cooling sector, operating a portfolio that includes large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
