Group-IB Becomes Initial Contributor to MITRE Fight Fraud Framework F3

Group-IB has announced its role as an initial contributor to the newly launched MITRE Fight Fraud Framework F3, developed by MITRE Corporation, marking a significant step toward strengthening global fraud prevention standards.

The Dubai-headquartered cybersecurity firm confirmed that it will also integrate the framework into its Fraud Intelligence platform, enabling organizations to combine standardized fraud classification with real-time, adversary-driven intelligence.

Embedding Real-World Intelligence Into Global Standards

As part of a select group of global contributors—including financial institutions and fraud prevention leaders—Group-IB has provided its proprietary library of fraud tactics, techniques, and classifications. These insights are derived from extensive investigations and collaborations with major banks and international law enforcement agencies such as INTERPOL and Europol.

The MITRE F3 framework introduces a common taxonomy for financial fraud, allowing organizations to classify and communicate threats using a unified language. Group-IB’s contribution reflects its adversary-centric approach, focusing on how fraud actors evolve and operate across industries and regions.

Advancing Predictive Fraud Detection

While the F3 framework provides a structured classification model, Group-IB emphasized that effective fraud prevention requires predictive capabilities. Its Fraud Matrix platform continuously analyzes fraud patterns across sectors such as financial services, e-commerce, telecommunications, gaming, and cryptocurrency.

By integrating MITRE F3, organizations will be able to map standardized fraud categories to real-time detection tools, mitigation strategies, and investigative workflows—bridging the gap between theory and operational defense.

Strengthening Global Collaboration

The adoption of standardized frameworks like MITRE F3 is expected to enhance collaboration between private sector entities, financial institutions, and law enforcement agencies. Group-IB’s ongoing partnerships with global stakeholders position it as a key contributor to improving information sharing and coordinated fraud response.

Pavel Krylov, Head of Fraud & Financial Crime Solutions at Group-IB, highlighted the importance of understanding fraud from the attacker’s perspective, noting that real visibility into fraud tactics is essential for effective detection and prevention.

Driving Industry-Wide Impact

This development reinforces the growing importance of shared standards and intelligence-driven approaches in combating financial fraud. By contributing to MITRE F3 and embedding it into its platforms, Group-IB aims to help organizations move beyond reactive defenses toward proactive, intelligence-led security strategies.

The initiative underscores a broader industry shift toward global cooperation, standardized frameworks, and advanced analytics in tackling increasingly sophisticated digital fraud threats.
