GISEC Opens Tomorrow Critically Vulnerable Businesses In The Region Gain Cutting-Edge Solutions Against Cyberattacks At Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference

Starting from day one of the three-day Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference (GISEC) 2015, which is scheduled to open tomorrow 26 April and run until 28 April 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), global I.T. experts will begin unleashing a wide range of cybersecurity solutions aimed at preventing any further attacks perpetrated by cybercriminals from all over the world.

According to a 2014 report released by the Centre of Strategic and International Studies, cybercrime has resulted in approximately USD445 billion worth of losses to the global economy every year. With the continuous onslaught and rise in the incidence of cyberattacks, both public and private organisations are looking everywhere for strategic solutions that can withstand a constantly growing sophistication of cybersecurity breaches. As a result, a MarketsandMarkets report has predicted that by 2019 the global cybersecurity industry will be worth USD155.7 billion, with the Middle East accounting for USD9.56 billion.

The third edition of the regions largest and only I.T. security knowledge event will witness the convergence of top-notch global I.T. experts in Dubai to discuss key issues surrounding cybersecurity management, identity management and disaster recovery amongst individual users and across a variety of business sectors. Also, as a venue for local, regional and global companies to showcase and learn about proven tactics and world leading I.T. security technologies, well-known brands and companies such as GBM, BT, Cisco, Spire Solutions, Palo Alto Networks and Paladion, among others, will highlight their latest products and services at GISEC.

GISEC Exhibition and Conference
The GISEC conference will bring together the best minds from around the world who will shed light on cybersecurity threat scenarios in the region. Among the speakers who will provide key insights at the conference include Security Guru Bruce Schneier, a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School in the U.S.A., and Dan Lohrmann, ex-Chief Security Officer for the State of Michigan in the U.S.A.

Schneier will deliver a session on reactions and learnings from the recent Sony hack, while Lohrmann, will talk about cyberdefence strategies in fighting cyberattacks and threats. Other speakers at the show are Les Anderson, Vice President Cyber, BT, who will discuss threat scenarios from the Internet of Things (IoT) and Software Defined Networks, and Hani Nofal, Executive Director, Intelligent Network Solutions, GBM, who will share his thoughts on connected chaos within the internet using anonymity and sharing devices among others.

With the recent cybercrimes in the region having impacted industries and individuals in every manner, GISEC presents itself as a perfect platform for I.T. professionals to learn strategies and insights from some of the worlds foremost thought leaders. This is to help ensure sustainable and secure I.T. framework infrastructure, said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

GISEC will open its doors to over 5,000 trade visitors from 50 countries and will feature 150 exhibitors. The event attracts C-level executives from the region, including Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs).

In addition, GISEC will launch the Safe Cities Briefing Day, a platform designed for the Middle Easts senior public sector officials to discuss ways of securing smart and connected cities using innovative technologies. Scheduled to speak at the briefing are Colonel Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, General Director of Smart Services at Dubai Police and Bassam AlMaharmeh, Chief Information Security Officer, Ministry of Defence, Jordan among others.

The event will also have free-to-attend training sessions for I.T. professionals and will include vendor-run educational presentations, product demonstrations and case studies. Through these sessions, attendees will gain critical insights on how to defend their business from cybercrimes and threats.
