GGICO Station Renamed to Al Garhoud Metro Station Starting April 14
RTA announces new name for Red Line station as part of ongoing updates to Dubai Metro network
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the GGICO Metro Station on the Red Line will be officially renamed to Al Garhoud Metro Station, effective April 14, 2025.
The update was confirmed by the authority via a post on X (formerly Twitter), which included a visual map marking the station's location within the broader metro network.
The renaming aligns with the RTA's ongoing initiative to enhance navigational clarity and reflect the geographic areas surrounding key metro stations. The move also aims to support the identity of local communities and neighborhoods.
This change follows a similar update last month when Al Khail Metro Station was renamed to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station after a naming rights agreement was signed with the financial services provider.
Commuters using the Red Line are advised to take note of the new name when planning their journeys beginning April 14.
