The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has urged businesses and other entities subject to the UAE's e-Invoicing System to begin preparations ahead of the implementation deadlines, including the requirement for larger businesses to appoint an Accredited e-Invoicing Service Provider by October 30, 2026.

The call was made during a joint awareness meeting organised by the FTA in Dubai, which brought together more than 700 participants, including Accredited e-Invoicing Service Providers, companies and entities subject to the system, FTA officials and experts.

The meeting focused on helping businesses understand the regulatory framework, select an appropriate Accredited Service Provider and complete the procedures required to join the system through the EmaraTax digital tax services platform.

Key e-Invoicing deadlines

The FTA confirmed different deadlines based on the revenues of entities subject to the system.

Businesses and other persons subject to e-Invoicing with revenues of AED 50 million or more must:

Those with revenues below AED 50 million must:

The FTA advised businesses to begin the process early, as implementation involves selecting a service provider, entering into an agreement, completing technical integration and finalising the required procedures through EmaraTax.

System aims to standardise electronic invoicing

The e-Invoicing System is designed to standardise and automate invoicing through a secure electronic framework. It enables invoices to be issued, transmitted and received in a structured electronic format, allowing for automated processing and real-time exchange.

H.E. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, Director General of the FTA, said the system would support voluntary tax compliance through digital mechanisms.

“This cooperation will support the successful introduction of e-Invoicing, which we expect to represent a significant step forward in enhancing voluntary tax compliance through secure and effective digital mechanisms,” Al Mulla said.

He added that key legislative, technological and digital infrastructure requirements had already been addressed as part of preparations led by the Ministry of Finance and the FTA.

FTA conducts awareness programmes

The FTA has launched an awareness campaign to help businesses understand the system and prepare for implementation.

The Authority has conducted nine workshops for the business sector, while the Ministry of Finance has organised four awareness events with FTA participation. Additional awareness activities are planned as the implementation dates approach.

During the Dubai meeting, FTA representatives explained the system's implementation timeline, integration procedures and requirements for different categories of businesses.

They also discussed the processes for activating participation through EmaraTax and measures intended to support business continuity during the transition.

Businesses urged not to delay preparations

The FTA advised businesses subject to the system to begin preparations promptly rather than waiting until the relevant deadline.

Businesses will need to assess their requirements, select an Accredited e-Invoicing Service Provider, complete the contractual and technical integration process and then undertake the necessary procedures through EmaraTax.

The Authority warned that failure to meet the applicable implementation requirements may result in administrative penalties.

The phased implementation is part of wider UAE efforts to expand digital transformation and modernise tax administration.
