The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) participated in the BRICS Tax Experts and Tax Heads Meeting 2026 in New Delhi, India, as tax authorities from 10 BRICS member administrations met to exchange expertise and discuss emerging challenges in tax administration.
The meeting was hosted by India’s Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), under the Ministry of Finance. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation among BRICS tax administrations, with technology, tax administration and human resources among the key areas addressed.
The UAE delegation was headed by H.E. Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority. It also included Saida Kaddoumi Osman, Policy Adviser at the FTA, and Meera Qassim, International Relations Senior Analyst.
FTA highlights importance of international cooperation
Speaking during the meeting, Al Mulla highlighted the role of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in developing modern and efficient tax systems.
He said platforms such as BRICS working groups and the Tax Experts and Tax Heads Meeting provide opportunities for participating administrations to exchange experiences, share practices and examine approaches to common challenges.
“The Federal Tax Authority places great importance on strengthening international cooperation and exchanging knowledge and expertise with tax administrations around the world,” Al Mulla said.
He added that the meeting provided an opportunity for the UAE to learn from different experiences, share expertise and explore approaches that could support the continued development of tax administration.
Technology and evolving tax systems discussed
The meeting also addressed the growing role of technology in tax administration, alongside administrative practices and human-resource development.
Al Mulla said the UAE continues to advance an efficient, transparent and technology-enabled tax system aimed at supporting economic growth and improving the customer experience.
He noted that international platforms such as BRICS can help strengthen cooperation between tax administrations, develop professional relationships and support the exchange of knowledge as economic and technological conditions continue to evolve.
The FTA's participation reflects the UAE's engagement in international tax cooperation and its efforts to exchange knowledge and experience with tax authorities in other countries.
