Gartner Releases Strategic AI Predictions for 2025 and Beyond
Global research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. has unveiled its top strategic predictions for 2025, spotlighting how generative AI (GenAI) is influencing areas traditionally considered within human control. Daryl Plummer, Distinguished VP Analyst and Chief of Research at Gartner, underscored the inevitability of AI’s influence on industries worldwide, asserting that “AI is evolving as human use of AI evolves."
Among Gartner’s key predictions is the projection that by 2026, 20% of organizations will restructure to eliminate middle management positions through AI, streamlining costs and automating operations. However, this shift could introduce workforce challenges, such as diminished learning paths for junior employees.
By 2028, digital addiction could affect nearly a billion people, driving 70% of organizations to introduce anti-digital policies to counteract productivity declines and mental health challenges associated with excessive tech use. In addition, Gartner anticipates that by 2029, 10% of global boards will utilize AI to challenge executive decisions, shifting corporate dynamics.
Further highlights include the deployment of “Guardian Agents” by 2028 to manage the risks posed by AI agents, which are expected to open new cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Also, large enterprises will increasingly employ AI to monitor employee behaviors to drive productivity.
For additional insights, Gartner’s predictions are accessible to clients, with more detailed discussions expected at the Gartner CIO & IT Executive Conference in Dubai this November.
