Ford Unveils High-Performance Mustang GTD at Le Mans with Advanced Performance Package and Driver-Focused Interior
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series made a striking debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcasing unmatched performance, premium functionality, and sophisticated design. This latest iteration of the Mustang GTD is poised to redefine high-performance driving, featuring a host of enhancements that underscore its capabilities both on the road and the track.
Performance Package for Nürburgring Dominance
Central to the Mustang GTD’s impressive specs is the new Performance package, engineered to achieve a sub-7-minute lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The package includes active aerodynamics, such as dive planes, a larger front splitter, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system on the rear wing. These features minimize drag and maximize aerodynamic grip, ensuring optimal performance in various driving conditions. The Lightweight package further enhances agility by incorporating 20-inch magnesium wheels and reducing sound-deadening materials.
Driver-Focused Interior
The Mustang GTD’s interior, revealed for the first time at Le Mans, is meticulously designed to enhance the driving experience. It features large 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters, standard Recaro seats, and a thick-rimmed flat-bottom steering wheel with Dinamica and leather inserts. The steering wheel includes buttons for adjusting suspension firmness and exhaust mode, allowing drivers to make quick adjustments without taking their eyes off the road.
Two new buttons on the hero panel provide access to the Track Apps page and a front-axle lift function, aiding in navigation over obstacles. The interior also includes a digital gauge cluster with unique graphics, part of the reconfigurable center display and Sync 4 system, ensuring drivers remain focused and informed.
Advanced Engineering and Design
The Mustang GTD is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle, delivering over 800 horsepower. The hexagonal-patterned titanium paddle shifters provide tactile feedback, enhancing driver control.
Externally, the Mustang GTD boasts eye-catching Chroma Flame paint, one of six standard colors, paired with exposed carbon-fiber elements in the Carbon Series trim. The carbon-fiber body features unpainted hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck, with Magnetite-finished wheels. Additional customization options include body color or contrasting painted stripes and various painted brake calipers.
Cutting-Edge Software Integration
The Mustang GTD’s software suite features Unreal Gaming technology, powering the Sync 4 infotainment system. Unique Mustang GTD-specific welcome and farewell graphics are displayed on the 13.2-inch touchscreen and the 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster. The Performance gauge cluster, exclusive to the Mustang GTD, emphasizes the gear indicator and tachometer, removing unnecessary information to keep the driver’s focus on performance metrics.
“Mustang GTD does far more than elevate the Mustang’s performance envelope. It brings a new more focused, premium feel to the cabin,” said Design Manager Anthony Colard.
With its debut at Le Mans, the Mustang GTD sets a new standard for high-performance vehicles, combining cutting-edge technology, advanced aerodynamics, and driver-focused features to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.
