eToro Expands Global Offering With Japanese Stocks and Launch of JapanEconomy Portfolio

Trading platform eToro has announced a significant expansion of its investment offerings by adding Japanese equities to its platform, alongside the launch of a new themed portfolio, JapanEconomy.

The move provides users with access to stocks listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), with the initial rollout including companies from the Nikkei 225 index. Investors can now trade shares of globally recognized firms such as Toyota and Mitsubishi, supported by real-time market data.

George Naddaf, Managing Director for MENA at eToro, highlighted Japan’s growing appeal among regional investors, citing its strong industrial base, technological innovation, and corporate governance reforms. He noted that the expansion enables MENA investors to diversify their portfolios by accessing one of the world’s most liquid and established markets.

The addition of Japanese stocks further strengthens eToro’s position as a global investment platform. According to the company, it now offers access to more than 11,000 stocks across 26 exchanges, broadening opportunities for retail investors worldwide.

To simplify access to the Japanese market, eToro has also introduced the JapanEconomy portfolio, which comprises 30 TSE-listed companies. The portfolio is constructed based on factors such as market capitalisation, liquidity, and analyst consensus, ensuring a diversified exposure. Approximately half of the portfolio focuses on industrial and technology sectors, while the remainder covers consumer, communications, and financial industries.

Market sentiment towards Japan is also strengthening. According to eToro’s Retail Investor Beat survey, the proportion of investors expecting Japan’s stock market to deliver the strongest long-term returns has nearly tripled in recent years.

Lale Akoner, Global Market Strategist at eToro, emphasized that Japan is re-emerging as a structural growth story, driven by policy reforms and improved corporate governance. She noted that increasing earnings visibility and enhanced shareholder returns are attracting global investors seeking diversification beyond traditional markets.

The expansion reflects a broader trend of global portfolio diversification, positioning Japan as a key destination for investors looking to tap into long-term growth and market transformation.
