Etihad Water and Electricity Showcases Pioneering Projects at WETEX 2024
CEO Yousif Ahmed Al Ali emphasizes operational diversity while ensuring service excellence and productivity. Key focus on strategic projects like UAEV electric vehicle charging network and Distributed Solar Systems (DSS) initiative.
Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) presented its latest technologies and flagship projects at the 2024 Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), held at the Dubai World Trade Center. As a Titanium level sponsor of the event, EtihadWE showcased its initiatives focused on sustainability and clean energy.
Speaking on the company's participation, Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, expressed his pride in being part of WETEX, a key platform for networking and fostering collaborations in the energy and water sectors. "WETEX allows us to engage with stakeholders on regional and global levels, demonstrating our capacity for operational diversity while maintaining service quality and efficiency," said Al Ali. He further emphasized how the company's long-term strategic projects are aligned with the UAE's national goals and vision for a sustainable future.
Key Projects Showcased at WETEX
EtihadWE’s participation at WETEX attracted global companies, investors, and decision-makers. The company highlighted its high-efficiency reverse osmosis water desalination plant, "Naqa’a," and the Al Khuraijah Water Distribution Center, both of which are key to supporting the UAE's 2036 Water Security Strategy. These initiatives are also aligned with the "Mohamed Bin Zayed Water Initiative," which aims to raise awareness of global water scarcity and promote the development of technological solutions.
The company also spotlighted its smart meters project, which offers real-time data on water and electricity consumption. This project enables customers to manage consumption more efficiently and is set to be fully implemented by 2026.
Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives
During the exhibition, EtihadWE discussed its two major partnerships with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. One of these is the UAEV, the UAE’s first government-owned electric vehicle charging network, which aims to deploy 100 chargers by the end of 2024, scaling to over 1,000 by 2030.
Additionally, the Distributed Solar Systems (DSS) project was introduced, allowing customers in the Northern Emirates to install rooftop solar panels and contribute to renewable energy generation, with excess energy credited back to their accounts.
Digital Transformation Milestone
On the second day of WETEX, EtihadWE announced the completion of the first phase of its digital transformation in partnership with SAP SE. This shift to cloud-based operations marks a crucial step in enhancing operational efficiency and delivering AI-powered solutions to support the company’s sustainability journey.
EtihadWE’s participation at WETEX 2024 demonstrated its continued commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of technologies that advance the UAE’s strategic energy and water goals.
