Etihad check-in delays hit as European airports grapple with cyberattack

Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways is experiencing check-in delays for its flights at Brussels International Airport and London’s Heathrow Airport following a cyberattack that disrupted systems across several major European hubs.
The attack targeted a third party service provider (Collins Aerospace) whose systems support electronic check-in and boarding operations. Automated systems are down at affected airports, forcing staff to revert to manual check-in and boarding procedures.
In response, Etihad has advised guests to arrive early and its teams are assisting with manual check-in. Technicians are working to restore full system functionality. The airline apologised, citing the disruption as “beyond our control.”
Other carriers are also feeling the impact. Indian carrier Air India warned its London operations may face similar delays, while Emirates reported no major effect.
Passengers travelling through the affected airports are urged to check their flight status and plan ahead as the fallout from the cyberattack continues.
