EQUATE organizes sustainability workshop with Arab CSR Society

EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwaits first international joint-venture in this industry, organized a sustainability workshop in cooperation with the Arab Society for Corporate Social Responsibility (ASCRS).

The workshop, entitled Leadership Role for Corporate Social Responsibility, grouped a number of EQUATE leaders and employees representing EQUATE Sustainability Committee.

During the workshop, a number of sustainability and CSR issues were addressed, including their definitions, ISO 26000 relevant to social responsibility, fundamentals, best practices, as well as other subjects.

EQUATE Senior Executive for Corporate Communications & Government Affairs Abeer Al-Omar said, Sustainability is a critical objective within EQUATE Corporate Strategy to ensure embodying our Partners in Success slogan with all relevant stakeholders, such as our employees, shareholders and communities as a whole.

Al-Omar, who also heads EQUATE Sustainability Committee, added, Sharing and leveraging best practices are a must to achieve overall development and growth, and this workshop in partnership with ASCRS is a prime example of such efforts. In addition, this interactive workshop is an integral part of refining our sustainability strategic plan, which is aimed at fully integrating and aligning our sustainability and CSR initiatives with EQUATE Corporate Strategy to add value to the business success and our stakeholders.

On his part, ASCRS Board Chairman Sultan Al-Bazie said, The society had the pleasure of conducting this workshop with EQUATE. EQUATEs strong sense for CSR and its efforts to be a pioneer in CSR were witnessed by having the opportunity to meet its President & CEO Mohammad Husain and the amount of interaction from EQUATE Sustainability Committee. EQUATE is one of the few companies that publish an annual sustainability report and ASCRS is keen on cooperating with leading organizations in the Arab world to implement exemplary principles of CSR and sustainability, which go beyond donations to reach the level of best business practices in all levels. ASCRS Board Member & Secretary Dr. Khalid Bomtaia addressed CSR in terms of definition, historical background, concepts, philosophy, corporate involvement, role of leadership, CSR & sustainability, and ISO 26000.
