Empower Completes connecting to Dubai Design District
Empower, the worlds largest district cooling services provider, has completed connecting Phase one to Dubai Design District (d3). The first phase of d3s district cooling network, which was commenced in November 2014, provides cooling services with a capacity of 10,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT).
With the rapid commissioning of d3s district cooling systems, we at Empower have demonstrated our commitment to providing world-class support to Dubais ever-growing roster of real estate developments, said H.E Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower. Because of the size and sophistication of the d3 network, we consider this project as one of the most important ventures that Empower has been involved with.
Formalised in May 2014, Empower was granted a contract worth AED750 million to provide district cooling to d3 developments, a deal that is expected to boost the district cooling companys portfolio by 12%. When completed, Empowers d3 network will include a 120,000 RT capacity for the neighbourhood, which is located close to Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. The 2 square kilometer neighbourhood will act as a hub for Dubais creative minds, and will include offices, retail, galleries and event space.
As d3 realizes its dream of incubating the regions most creative minds, we at Empower are proud to participate in realising the goal of developing a one- of- a- kind dedicated design destination, continued Bin Shafar.
