Emirates Health Services Hosts Regional Certified Trainers Course on Emergency Medical Response
Emirates Health Services (EHS) is currently hosting the second ‘Certified Trainers Course’ on emergency medical response as part of Joint Project 82, aimed at strengthening medical preparedness for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents. The course is being held at the EHS Training and Development Centre in Sharjah from November 4 to 15, 2024, under the supervision of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretariat General and in partnership with the European Union, UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Ministry of Interior.
Dr. Wedad AlMaidoor AlMheiri, Director of the Emergency Operations Center at EHS, emphasized that hosting this event underscores EHS's dedication to enhancing emergency medical readiness in the UAE. "This program reflects our commitment to preparing specialized professionals to respond swiftly and effectively to diverse medical emergencies. Through such initiatives, EHS continues to support UAE’s healthcare standards and aligns with regional and international emergency response efforts," said Dr. AlMheiri.
The Certified Trainers Course includes participants from GCC nations and various UAE health and safety authorities, such as the Ministry of Interior’s Directorate General of Civil Defence. Conducted in English, the course will certify participants to teach future emergency response training, as approved by the UAE’s National Committee for Emergency Medical Response to CBRN incidents.
Following a successful inaugural session last year at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Academy, which trained 52 participants, these courses, supported by the EU’s CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence, aim to equip GCC professionals with the skills to manage CBRN emergencies effectively.
