Electrolux Planting 5,000 Trees in the UAE as Part of the #ForTheBetter
Electrolux, a global leader in family home appliances, marked the launch of its yearly 'Give a Ghaf' Tree Growing Programme on Thursday with 500 students growing and committing Ghaf trees seeds at the Dubai British School in Dubai.
The program is currently in its 4th year of operation, with a total amount of 15,000 trees being grown so far across the UAE. This year, as part of the #ForTheBetter culture, the programme aims to grow an additional 5,000 Ghaf trees. The Ghaf tree is the nationwide tree of the UAE and belongs to the rich history and heritage of the UAE and Gulf nations.
Electrolux has partnered with Goumbook, a local social venture organisation in the UAE and GCC. The 'Give a Ghaf' Tree Planting Programme has been developed to both inform and elevate public awareness concerning the Ghaf tree and its properties, whilst motivating people to plant indigenous trees in order to help shield the atmosphere.
Throughout the annual project Electrolux involves with local schools to talk about both sustainability and the relevance of the Ghaf tree. In the beginning also for this effort in 2018, pupils had the chance to plant their own Ghaf tree seeds in the grounds of the school, in the participation of the Swedish Ambassador H.E Henrik Landerholm. Following this, the trainees then developed a committed card to a close friend or a relative, which they after that hung on the dedication Ghaf tree, which would certainly become a testament to their involvement in the programme.
Following the programme, Lorenzo Milani, CEO of Electrolux Middle East and Africa commented: "The Ghaf tree growing at the Dubai British School was a huge success. It was amazing to see so many children joining the growing program and finding out about the relevance of sustainable growth at the exact same time.
