Dubai Wins Certificate for Being Worlds 1st City to Implement U4SSCs KPIs for Smart Sustainable Cities
Dubai has been named the first city in the world to successfully implement U4SSC KPIs for Smart Sustainable Cities, and has received official certification from the United Nations U4SCC (United for Smart Sustainable Cities) initiative, coordinated by ITU, UNECE and UN-Habitat, and Supported by 16 UN agencies for Sustainable Development Goals 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, secure, resilient and sustainable. It seeks to recognize cities that have made great strides in implementing the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11.

"Firm vision to create a smart city centered on the happiness of Smart Dubai's citizens reflects forward-thinking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
As the government agency is entrusted with paying for Dubai's transformation towards a complete smart city in the future, Smart Dubai has embraced the prestigious certificate, representing the emirate. The certification was presented by Dr Chaesub Lee, Director of the ITUs Telecommunication Standardization Bureau to Smart Dubais Strategic Planning Advisor Dr Okan Gerayin Valencia, Spain during the 9th Green Standard Week.
