Dubai to Deploy 1,000 Smart Parking Cameras Across Key Locations
Parkin Company, Dubai’s leading public parking operator, has announced plans to install 1,000 smart, solar-powered cameras across strategic areas in the city to monitor and manage parking availability more efficiently. The initiative aims to enhance the customer experience and support the emirate’s broader smart mobility goals.
According to Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, the new technology will be introduced as part of the first phase of the company’s smart infrastructure strategy.
“As the exclusive public parking operator in Dubai, our direction is to enhance customer experience through improved operations, fares, and payment solutions. We are investing heavily in smart technologies. These cameras will be deployed shortly for the first time in on-street parking areas,” he said.
The smart cameras will be installed around high-traffic zones such as the Dubai World Trade Centre during major events to help regulate and monitor parking availability in real time. Through live video and image feeds, the system will allow customers to know where parking spaces are available before entering event areas. The data will also feed into Parkin’s smart inspection operations room, improving traffic flow and enforcement efficiency.
Integrating Smart Mobility with Sustainability
The move aligns with Dubai’s smart city ambitions by integrating technology into everyday infrastructure. Al Ali noted that effective parking management plays a crucial role in addressing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility.
Beyond smart cameras, Parkin is also expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, targeting the installation of 200 EV chargers in on-street parking areas by the end of 2026. The company has already secured approvals for around 50 chargers and is advancing the first phase of its deployment.
In October 2025, Parkin signed an agreement with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to install 100 EV chargers across key city locations, supporting Dubai’s growing adoption of electric mobility.
Preparing for the Future of Mobility
Parkin is also working with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority and other operators to prepare designated zones for autonomous vehicles, which are expected to be rolled out in March 2026 as part of Dubai’s self-driving taxi initiative.
“You need to have specific zones for autonomous cars to ensure safe mobility. We have discussed the locations and technical requirements that can support this new mode of transportation,” Al Ali explained.
In addition, the company is collaborating with advanced air mobility solution providers, exploring ways to integrate its extensive parking network with flying taxi infrastructure, ensuring seamless multimodal connectivity in the near future.
This comprehensive approach underscores Parkin’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s Vision 2040 Urban Master Plan, positioning parking infrastructure as a critical enabler of smart, sustainable, and future-ready mobility.
