In DEWA, we invest heavily in establishing individuals capable of leading research study and advancement in clean and sustainable energy to protect natural resources and protect the environment. It consists of a number of research and development laboratories in clean energy.
"DEWA offers scholarships and innovative programs to prepare a generation that is capable of pursuing the vision of our smart management to achieve sustainable development. One of the programs adopted by DEWA is the Carbon Ambassadors Programme, whose goal is to include the youth in sustainability and low-carbon advancement activities. The very first batch of graduates have actually developed self-sustainable bus stops from retired shipping containers to inspire a more environmentally-sustainable lifestyle.".
"To support DEWA's mission to promote Dubai's vision by providing sustainable electricity and water services at a world-class level of reliability, efficiency, and security in an environment that nurtures innovation, and DEWA's vision to become a sustainable innovative world class energy, we are pleased to supply all the needed support to add to the success of Solar Decathlon Middle East. We will motivate students to create, construct, and operate solar-run sustainable houses that are reliable in terms of cost and energy usage, while taking into consideration the region's climate," included Al Tayer.
"Sustainability has actually always been present in this region. Our ancestors utilized natural deposits to develop homes that adjusted to environment conditions. They utilized rocks, trees, and clay to build houses that safeguarded them from cold in the winter season and heat in the summertime. They built Barjeel-- wind towers that work as natural air-conditioners to handle high temperatures.".
"Today, we want brand-new generations to incorporate natural materials with modern-day architecture, to protect natural resources, and lower carbon emissions that pose a hazard to world Earth. Hosting the Decathlon is an useful action that supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, making Dubai a global centre of clean energy and green economy. Dubai's objective is to become the city with the least carbon footprint on the planet. By organising this competition, we spread knowledge and raise awareness of the positive aspects and opportunities that clean and renewable energy technologies provide. We also motivate utilizing products that lower the ecological effect of buildings, notify the public about the significance of renewable resource, energy effectiveness, and the innovations that help them optimise their energy usage. The Decathlon will provide useful models for solar-run houses that can be comfortable, appealing, and budget-friendly. The Decathlon will be a distinct chance for university students to get crucial experience, execute the theories they learn, and show their skills and capabilities in innovation, design, and attain a sustainable lifestyle that ensures connection of these tasks," kept in mind Al Tayer.
"Last October, I attended the final awards event of the Solar Decathlon in Irvine, California in the United States. I was impressed with the designs and the enthusiasm of the taking part groups and their interest for what they presented. We intend to see more advanced designs and more competiveness in the next two Solar Decathlons, which will happen in 2018 and in 2020 in Dubai," stated Al Tayer.
"I anticipate inviting you to Dubai in 2018. I encourage university groups from the region and the world to prepare their tasks and ideas and execute them in Dubai, the shinning Emirate whose passion has no limits," concluded Al Tayer.
Over twenty teams will participate in the Solar Decathlon, which is arranged for the first time in the Middle East and Africa after its success in the US, Europe, China, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Collegiate groups will have to develop, build, and operate solar-powered homes that are affordable and energy-efficient, while considering the area's climate. Dubai will host Solar Decathlon Middle East in 2018 and once more in 2020 to coincide with World Expo in Dubai.
