Dubai Showcases Pioneering Digital Projects at GITEX Africa 2024

Today, the Prime Minister of Morocco, His Excellency Aziz Akhannouch, inaugurated GITEX Africa 2024 in Marrakech. This premier technology event features the Dubai Pavilion, where nine entities are presenting over 25 pioneering digital projects, highlighting Dubai’s leadership in digital transformation.

His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, spoke on behalf of the UAE delegation during the official opening. “Our participation in GITEX Africa reflects our leadership’s vision to foster knowledge sharing with our partners in Africa and enhance the role of innovation and modern technology in achieving sustainable economic development globally,” said Al Mansoori. He emphasized the event's significance as a modern counterpart to GITEX Dubai, aiming to contribute to the fourth industrial revolution and artificial intelligence.

Dubai’s participation in the second edition of GITEX Africa includes contributions from Digital Dubai, Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Economy and Tourism, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Customs, the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), and DP World.

H.E. Al Mansoori highlighted the evolving UAE-Morocco relationship, emphasizing sustainable cooperation and mutual interests. He praised Morocco's progress in digital transformation, noting its strategic vision that aligns with hosting GITEX Africa. “This event serves as a twin to GITEX Dubai, propelling Marrakesh to mirror Dubai’s aspirations for a bright future driven by advanced technologies,” he added.

The Dubai Pavilion at GITEX Africa showcases a range of services and innovations aimed at enhancing digital city experiences and reinforcing Dubai’s global position in this sector. Highlights include:

  • Dubai Economy and Tourism (DET): The "Invest in Dubai" interactive platform for investors.
  • Dubai Civil Defence: Initiatives such as Eco Readiness and Dubai Civil Defence Readiness.
  • DEWA: Projects including Smart Office, Smart Grid, Mobile App, Website, Dubai Digital Clouds, Cybersecurity Services, Managed Services, and Professional Services.
  • Dubai Municipality: The "Build in Dubai" platform for construction services and "Digital Twin of Dubai" for geospatial digital representation.
  • DP World: The Dubai Trade website offering smart services like marine services, cargo handling, clearance, invoicing, and free zone services.
  • Dubai Police: The Dubai Police Application and Website.
  • Dubai Customs: Fourth Generation Services like AlMunasiq, Robot Automation Processing for Post Clearance Audit, and the Comprehensive Customs Solution (Mirsal).
  • SIRA: The Call Center Avatar service and Legal Advisor Chatbot for security information and guidance.

The event sees participation from 130 countries, enhancing international collaboration and positioning itself as a major platform for innovation and economic development in Africa.
