Dubai Introduces Sensory Rooms At Metro Stations To Support People With Autism
Roads and Transport Authority has launched dedicated sensory rooms for individuals with Autism at Al Satwa and Oud Metha Metro stations, marking a significant step toward inclusive public transport in the emirate.
The specially designed spaces provide a calm and supportive environment tailored to people with sensory sensitivities, helping them navigate daily travel with greater comfort, confidence, and ease.
Located within two key stations, the sensory rooms are equipped to reduce overstimulation, offering a quiet retreat for passengers who may find busy transit environments overwhelming.
The initiative forms part of RTA’s broader strategy to ensure accessible and user-friendly transport services for all segments of society, particularly people of determination and their families.
Officials said the move reflects Dubai’s wider vision of building a city that is inclusive and accommodating, where infrastructure is designed to meet the needs of every resident and visitor without exception.
By integrating such facilities into public transport, Dubai continues to reinforce its position as a global leader in inclusive urban mobility, setting new benchmarks for accessibility and community-focused design.
