Dubai Firm Announces Historic $5 Billion Investment to Enhance Data Centre Capacity in UAE, Middle East

Gulf Data Hub partners with KKR & Co for landmark investment, Initiative to boost digital infrastructure and AI capabilities in the region

Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced a groundbreaking $5 billion (approximately AED 18.4 billion) investment to expand data centre capacity across the UAE and the Middle East. The announcement, shared on X (formerly Twitter), highlights Dubai’s commitment to strengthening its position as a global hub for emerging technologies and digital innovation.

The investment is a collaboration between Dubai-founded Gulf Data Hub, a leader in data centre solutions, and global private equity firm KKR & Co. The equity firm will acquire a stake in Gulf Data Hub, marking one of the largest international investments in a UAE-founded business.

Transforming Dubai's Digital Landscape
“This landmark investment, the first of its kind in the region, will expand data centre capacity in the UAE and the Middle East,” stated Sheikh Hamdan. He further emphasized Dubai’s vision, saying, “We look forward to welcoming more partners as we advance Dubai’s digital capabilities and drive AI innovation. Dubai is the future, and the future is Dubai.”

Building on Dubai’s AI Blueprint
The announcement follows Dubai’s ambitious ‘Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence,’ launched less than a year ago to promote AI adoption across industries. The initiative has already introduced Chief AI Officers in government departments and AI training for educators, showcasing Dubai’s determination to lead in cutting-edge technology.

Gulf Data Hub, established in 2012, has been at the forefront of technology innovation, providing advanced data centre solutions across the region. This investment further cements its market-leading position while aligning with Dubai’s vision to become a global technology hub.
