Dubai Culture Wraps Up Inaugural Piano Camp, Empowering Emirati Talent Through Music
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has successfully concluded its first-ever Piano Camp, held in strategic partnership with HOUSE of PIANOS and Steinway & Sons Dubai. The six-month programme aimed to nurture young Emirati talent by offering intensive training in classical piano performance, music theory, and expressive technique.
Seventeen participants took part in a comprehensive curriculum that included individual piano lessons, masterclasses, lectures, and workshops. The programme also provided an in-depth exploration of the history of classical music, helping the young musicians refine both their technical skill and artistic interpretation.
A notable achievement of the camp was that all students successfully advanced through the first and second rounds of the 1st Steinway Piano Competition GCC 2025, judged by a prestigious panel of Steinway Artists, composers, professors, and world-renowned pianists.
Fatma Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, said:
“This initiative provided an exclusive platform for promising Emirati performers to elevate their artistry. Through Piano Camp, we are investing in the next generation of musical talent and reaffirming our commitment to deepening Dubai’s cultural fabric and global standing as a hub for creativity.”
Shavkat Mamadjonov, Founder of HOUSE of PIANOS UAE, also celebrated the participants' accomplishments:
“Witnessing these Emirati talents perform with such poise and musicality on Steinway concert pianos at Steinway Hall is a proud milestone for us. The Piano Camp is a testament to our dedication to nurturing musicians who can carry the message of music to the world.”
The Piano Camp is part of the Dubai Cultural Grant, a key initiative under the emirate’s Quality of Life Strategy, which allocates AED 180 million over 10 years to develop the cultural and creative sectors. The grant supports and empowers Emirati and UAE-based talent, solidifying Dubai’s vision as a global capital of culture and creativity.
