Dubai Chamber promotes volunteering culture by organising staff visit to Mawaheb art studio
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations this year, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has revealed plans to organize 50 social initiatives that would benefit all segments of the local community.
In this context, Dubai Chamber organised an initiative to promote the culture of volunteerism amongst its employees, under which a delegation of Chamber staff visited the artists of Mawaheb, an art studio for adults with special needs. The visit assisted the Dubai Chamber staff establish straight communication with the artists and appreciate the skills and professional zeal of the artists as they witnessed handmade products, paintings, stone carvings and other artistic work created by them. The artists presented remarkable skills when they created graphics on the Chambers 50th anniversary celebrations.
In the framework of our commitment to organise activities that support the local community, Dubai Chamber has developed a comprehensive plan to spread the culture of volunteerism among its staff and members, said Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Support Sector, Dubai Chamber.
Al Zaabi pointed out that coinciding with its 50th anniversary celebrations, Dubai Chamber has raised the number of activities it organises for the advantage of the community to 50 targeted initiatives by the end of this year.
Dubai Chamber has already set up successful initiatives that promote corporate social responsibility (CSR). Set up in November 2008 by the Centre for Responsible Business, ENGAGE Dubai is an international programme, which brings together businesses and community organisations around in Dubai to increase the quality and amount of employee community engagement in their local communities. The Centre for Responsible Business was launched in 2004 and has had an overwhelming response from the business community.
Dubai Chambers Centre for Responsible Business offers a variety of educational, professional training and consulting services that are designed to increase a companys capacity to implement broad CSR programmes, including business ethics, sustainability reporting and corporate governance into their day-to-day working environment.
The Centre celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014, and has been successful in instilling responsible business culture in the business community. By helping operating companies in Dubai adopt the highest sustainability and social responsibility into their strategies, the Centre has helped these companies improve their performance and competitiveness, as well as strengthen Dubai's reputation as leading provider of competitive and sustainable business environment.
