DIFC Hosts Third Edition of Sculpture Park with Simon Ma’s "Dancing Water" Exhibition
The DIFC Sculpture Park has unveiled its third edition, titled "Dancing Water," captivating visitors with 166 water drop-shaped sculptures of varying sizes. Installed in front of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the exhibition has become a stunning focal point, drawing tourists and residents alike to admire and photograph the intricate display.
"Dancing Water" Makes a Splash in Dubai
This year’s exhibition is part of the "Whispers of the City" theme, marking the Dubai leg of the renowned "Dancing Water" art series by acclaimed artist Simon Ma. Originally showcased at the Venice Biennale, the series has traveled to global art hubs such as Milan, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Hangzhou. The Dubai showcase represents an evolution of the project, featuring the tallest sculpture at 9.6 meters and incorporating interactive light and shadow elements for a dynamic visitor experience.
The exhibition emphasizes sustainability, with Simon Ma using water drops as a metaphor for environmental stewardship and a call to preserve vital natural resources.
Art with a Message of Benevolence
Simon Ma explained that his work is inspired by Confucian philosophy, particularly the concept of benevolence. The sculptures embody joy and harmony while encouraging visitors to value water resources and promote environmental conservation.
Expanding Art in the Middle East
Simon Ma aims to deepen ties with Middle Eastern art and government institutions, exploring new markets and creative collaborations in the region. The artist also envisions using art as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the Middle East.
In March 2025, Simon Ma is set to present a larger-scale "Dancing Water" exhibition at Tamar Park in Hong Kong, further extending his artistic footprint.
