DEWA signs MoU with Dubai Education Zone for collaboration in Conservation Award and environmental programmes

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Education Zone for collaboration, knowledge and skill exchange for mutual benefit. The MoU includes organising shared events and programmes in environment, health and safety in schools, in addition to participating in different environmental activities. The MoU supports the vision and strategy of Dubai Government to conserve natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint by adopting the best international standards and practices. It also supports DEWAs commitment to build strategic partnerships with local, regional and international institutions, and its corporate social responsibility to spread awareness about the environment and preserve it for generations to come.

The MoU was signed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and HE Dr. Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Education Zone. The MoU enhances collaboration on the rational use of electricity and water by organising joint activities and programmes, partnering in awards and awareness campaigns and using modern systems to help reduce and rationalise consumption within the education sector.

To support the directives of our wise leadership and the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative, DEWA has a plan to develop initiatives, and awareness programmes based on our strategy to focus on the importance of rationalisation in the educational sector and protecting the environment to create a sustainable future for generations to come. DEWA strengthens its relationships with its partners and stakeholders to achieve its strategic objectives and enhance the position of Dubai as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, green economy, and sustainability, said Al Tayer.
All year round we organise events, initiatives, and awareness campaigns to encourage everyone to use natural resources sensibly and protect the environment. This MoU will add to our ongoing successes in usage reduction and rationalisation by educating students about the best practices and latest developments in this area. DEWA continuously works to keep up-to-date with the latest student training and development programmes to support its vision to become a sustainable world class utility, added Al Tayer.
Dr. Al Mansouri commended DEWAs social and educational efforts and praised its programmes and initiatives, especially the scholarship programmes and DEWA Academy.

The MoU with DEWA is part of Dubai Education Zones efforts to develop students skills and knowledge. We are honoured to be part of this agreement which adds sustainable assets for the future of our children and our nation. Students are the most important segment for a sustainable future and optimal use of our resources and capacities to achieve a brighter future that is aligned with the plans and strategies of Dubai and the UAE. This leads to the ideal reality of a balanced and comprehensive student in terms of knowledge, skills, and behaviour. This MoU is especially important as the beginning of a future we all look forward to, said Al Mansouri.

Participation of public and private schools in the annual Conservation Award has helped Dubai Education Zone to make many positive achievements in this regard. We are working to be better at equipping students with all they need to achieve the highest levels of commitment to the future that our leadership is aspiring to achieve, as well success and excellence. The MoU supports the efforts of both Dubai Education Zone and DEWA in different areas, including joint activities and programmes in environment, health, and safety in schools, and positive and fruitful cooperation in the sensible use of electricity and water through useful programmes, activities, and campaigns. We are planning to implement quality initiatives in education throughout Dubai, added Al Mansouri.

The MoU is an example of partnerships, and experience and knowledge exchange among Dubai government organisations, especially with educational institutions to strengthen relationships and communication and benefit from the best practices to achieve best results for DEWA and all its stakeholders. The Conservation Award celebrates efforts to reduce electricity and water use and honours individual and collective efforts in this field.
As per the MoU, Dubai Education Zone will circulate DEWAs Conservation Award to include all educational institutions in Dubai that belong to the Ministry of Education. Dubai Education Zone will provide DEWA with statistics and information about the number of its schools, students and educational institutions. DEWA will organise field visits to the schools to educate students about DEWAs scholarship programmes and DEWA Academy programmes. DEWA will also educate continuing-education students about its technical education programmes and engineering professional training programmes.
The MoU will provide programmes for adult education schools to enhance knowledge values, reading, and good citizenship to consolidate national identity and support the wise leaderships vision, and collaboration in sustainable social projects that serves the educational process in Dubai. It also enhances collaboration in other relevant topics.
