Aster DM Healthcare, among Asia's leading health care networks is setting up an annual awards platform for recognising quality in journalism. Aster Media Awards seeks to acknowledge exceptional, national and state broad efforts in promoting the highest requirements of journalism in selected areas, specifically social change.

The Aster Media Awards are conceptualized by Aster DM Healthcare in acknowledgment of the tremendous impact of traditional media in shaping public awareness, acknowledgement and actions in the particular area. As part of the social obligation of the Group, Aster DM Healthcare is keen to offer a platform to praise the efforts of the fourth estate, whose talent, efforts and commitment do not get the due acknowledgment in society.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare resolved the media at the Delhi press club commenting, "In a nation of 1.2 billion individuals, journalism plays a crucial role in keeping check on social conscience and vision of collective advancement. The Aster Media Awards will be an annual platform to encourage excellence in journalism that drives social effect at all levels.

The Aster Media Awards for the nationwide title will be held in New Delhi, while the state awards will be held in Kerala, this March/April 2016. To commemorate international skill, Aster has actually named the "Shri Vivekanandan Memorial Award" for the GCC, in honour of the late editor of UAE-based Gulf Today, with the ceremony to be held in the UAE. The winners will be chosen by a respected jury of prominent individuals from across the region, recognised for their experience and intellectual thought. Furthermore, the three categories of the awards do not just factor in location but have different cash prizes. The national awards will be a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs, while the state wide awards would be cash prizes of Rs. 5 lakhs and the International (Middle East) Award would be a cash price of AED 25,000.

Applications for the Aster Media Awards will open to the public on 10th February 2016, and will be accepting submissions until 15th March. In order to get approved for the 2016 awards, work must be released in 2015 by a recognized or recognized print or tv media.
