Aramex Partners with Netzero to Launch Smart Tree Sustainability Initiative in Saudi Arabia

Aramex has announced a new partnership with Saudi-based sustainability platform Netzero to launch a smart tree planting initiative across the industrial cities of Riyadh and Jeddah.

The initiative forms part of Aramex’s broader ESG and environmental sustainability strategy, while also supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to expand green spaces and reduce carbon emissions across the Kingdom.

Under the partnership, Neem and Poinciana trees will be planted in selected industrial and urban areas. The species were chosen for their ability to thrive in high-temperature desert environments, improve air quality, provide shade, and support urban biodiversity in operational zones with heavy industrial activity.

According to Aramex, the initiative goes beyond traditional tree planting by integrating digital monitoring and verification technologies. Every tree planted will be digitally tracked using Netzero’s locally developed AI-powered platform, allowing real-time visibility into environmental impact and carbon-offset performance.

Speaking about the collaboration, Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Nowaiser, General Manager of Aramex in Saudi Arabia, said sustainability remains central to the company’s operations and long-term strategy.

He noted that the partnership enables Aramex to contribute directly to Saudi Arabia’s environmental ambitions while ensuring transparency through independently verified tracking systems.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Alshaikh, Co-Founder of Netzero, said the company’s approach focuses on creating measurable environmental impact through technology-driven sustainability solutions.

Founded in 2019, Netzero developed its afforestation platform using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, digitising the full lifecycle of each tree from planting and maintenance to carbon sequestration monitoring. Its “Nabatik” system creates a smart tree database designed to provide corporate partners with auditable sustainability records.

The project also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s national target of planting 10 billion trees under the Saudi Green Initiative, with private-sector partnerships playing a major role in achieving these environmental goals.

Aramex stated that data generated from the initiative will support its wider ESG reporting framework and help identify additional sustainability opportunities across its Saudi operations. The company continues to work toward its long-term goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050 across its global network.
