Al Majaz Amphitheatre adds new dazzle to Sharjah Light Festival 2015

The Sharjah Light Festival is continuing to attract visitors with a dazzling display of lights and live performances across 14 landmarks in Sharjah. Al Majaz Amphitheatre, one of the new locations this year, has become a focal point of the event with colourful shows that highlight the extraordinary design of the building.

Built according to Roman architectural style, Al Majaz Amphitheatre is the first open amphitheatre in the region. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art audio system, and can accommodate nearly 4,500 people. Located on Al Majaz Island in the Khalid Lagoon, the Al Majaz Amphitheatre is tucked between Flag Island and Al Majaz Waterfront.

Sharjah Light Festival shows at the amphitheatre take place from 6pm to 11pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. The Theatre of Lights show at the amphitheatre faade presents sophisticated graphic and motion design as a tribute to the recognition of Sharjah as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2015.
Another new location for Sharjah Light Festival 2015 is Masjid Al Taqwa at Al Majaz Waterfront. The Traces of Living show at the mosque is an impressive 360 degree video-mapping show that highlights its elaborate architectural details. The colourful graphic designs created on the mosque as part of the show, display the history and culture of the emirate.

The Al Majaz Island has recently been redeveloped to make it a vital landmark on Sharjahs tourist map. With its strategic location on the Khalid Lake, the island has become a major tourist destination with modern facilities in accordance with international standards.

The Sharjah Light Festival, now into its 5th year, has been organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. The festival, which is the first event of its kind in the region, is being held from February 5 to 13.
