Accor Expands Its Luxury Portfolio in Saudi Arabia With the Signing of Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah

Accor, a global leader in hospitality, has announced the signing of Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah, a landmark luxury property set to open in 2026. Located within the prestigious Jabal Omar master development and just steps away from the Holy Mosque, the new hotel will become the largest Sofitel property in the world, featuring 1,141 rooms and suites across two towers.

The signing ceremony took place during the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Dubai on October 28, 2025, in the presence of senior executives from Accor and Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC) — one of the Middle East’s leading real estate developers and a key player in Makkah’s urban transformation.

A New Benchmark for Luxury Hospitality in Makkah

Set across two towers — Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah North and Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah South — the property will offer panoramic views of the Holy Mosque and surrounding skyline. Guests will enjoy a sophisticated blend of French art de vivre and Saudi cultural heritage, brought to life through elegant design, curated dining experiences, and thoughtful wellness offerings.

The hotel will feature six distinctive dining venues, including refined all-day restaurants, a signature fine-dining destination celebrating French–Middle Eastern fusion, and elegant lobby lounges designed for relaxation and reflection. An exclusive Club Millésime executive lounge will cater to premium guests, offering personalized service and culinary excellence.

Beyond dining, the hotel will deliver curated wellness and sensory experiences that blend French refinement with Makkah’s spiritual essence — including locally inspired teas, artisanal amenities, and bespoke wellness rituals designed in collaboration with Saudi creators.

Strategic Partnership With Jabal Omar Development Company

The project is being developed in partnership with Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC), renowned for its world-class mixed-use developments that align with the spiritual and cultural significance of Makkah. Together, Accor and JODC aim to deliver a hospitality experience defined by cultural respect, design excellence, and sustainable development.

Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, said:

“We are honored to introduce Sofitel in Makkah, a city of immense spiritual importance. Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah will be a symbol of hospitality, serenity, and connection — where French zest meets Saudi authenticity.”

Jean-Baptiste Recher, Chief Development Officer for Luxury Brands in the Middle East, Africa and Türkiye, added:

“Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah is a landmark achievement that reflects our commitment to creating world-class luxury properties that harmonize local heritage with French sophistication.”

Xavier Grange, Chief Development Officer for Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery & Emblems, said:

“This project strengthens Accor’s leadership in Saudi Arabia’s luxury segment and aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals to diversify the economy and enhance its global tourism appeal.”

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030

With its scale, design, and proximity to the Haram, Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah represents one of the most ambitious hotel projects in the Middle East. The development reinforces Accor’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, driving economic diversification, and elevating the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for spiritual and luxury tourism.
