Abu Dhabi launches ‘Exceptional Quality Reward’ to enhance fertility services

New value-based initiative aims to boost healthcare standards across the Emirate

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has introduced the ‘Exceptional Quality Reward’, a performance-based programme designed to incentivise healthcare providers—starting with fertility services—to deliver care aligned with international quality standards.

The initiative will evaluate fertility clinics on key performance metrics such as patient outcomes, safety, and experience. Clinics that meet or exceed these benchmarks will receive financial and institutional rewards.

According to Dr Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, fertility services were chosen due to their strategic importance in reproductive health, and the programme will further solidify Abu Dhabi's leadership in advanced fertility care.

Abu Dhabi already boasts a 51% IVF success rate, 14 fertility centres, and a robust network of 2,800 professionals in obstetrics and gynaecology, including 700 specialists and 375 midwives. The new initiative is expected to foster continuous improvements and serve as a model for other medical specialities in the future.
