ABB Opens AI and Digital Solutions Training Center in UAE to Accelerate the Energy Transition

ABB has inaugurated a US$2 million training and customer experience center in the UAE to support the development of advanced digital and engineering skills across industrial, utility, and power sectors in the Middle East. The new facility, located in Dubai’s Al Quoz Industrial Area, aims to accelerate regional adoption of AI-enabled energy technologies and strengthen long-term energy resilience.

The UAE’s electricity demand is projected to grow by up to 4 percent annually until 2035, driven by rapid urbanization, industrial expansion, and increased electrification of cooling and transport. Meeting this rising demand will require next-generation solutions that enhance grid resilience, optimize capital expenditure, and support national sustainability goals.

According to Marco Tellarini, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, ABB Electrification Service, the electrification sector faces twin challenges of an aging workforce and an urgent need for digital upskilling. “As experienced technicians retire, businesses must equip the next generation with expertise in data-driven asset management, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance,” he said. “Our new UAE facility will help bridge the skills gap by combining practical training with exposure to cutting-edge digital and AI technologies.”

Spanning 2,500 square meters, the new Customer Experience Center features a modern workshop, lecture theater and collaborative training environments. ABB expects to train approximately 2,000 engineers and technicians annually from across the Middle East. The programs will focus on medium- and low-voltage technologies, digital asset management, and AI-based predictive maintenance.

The center will also play a key role in helping industries upgrade aging electrical infrastructure. By adopting advanced digital asset management systems, businesses can reduce emissions, improve efficiency and enhance reliability—supporting the transition toward more sustainable and resilient energy systems.

ABB has been active in the UAE since 1976 and currently employs over 600 staff across commercial offices, factories and innovation hubs. Across the GCC region, the company employs more than 1,200 people.
