UAE Expands Golden Visa Eligibility to Seven New Professions

The UAE has expanded its prestigious Golden Visa programme to include seven new professional categories, offering eligible individuals a 10-year residency permit. The long-term visa, aimed at attracting and retaining top talent, allows holders to live, work, and study in the country without the need for a sponsor or employer.

The newly eligible categories include:

  1. Teachers and Educators:
In 2024, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah began offering Golden Visas to outstanding educators. In Dubai, educators working in the private sector received the visa as a tribute on World Teacher’s Day. Ras Al Khaimah followed suit, granting the visa to school leaders and teachers with a proven record of improving institutional performance.

  2. Nurses:
On International Nurses Day, Dubai honoured healthcare professionals with over 15 years of service at Dubai Health by granting them 10-year Golden Visas, recognizing their critical role in the nation’s healthcare system.

  3. Luxury Yacht Owners and Maritime Executives:
As part of Abu Dhabi’s ‘Golden Quay’ initiative, the visa is now available to private yacht owners with vessels 40 metres or longer, as well as to maritime industry executives. Immediate family members are also eligible.

  4. Gaming and eSports Professionals:
Under the culture and arts category, individuals aged 25 and above involved in gaming—whether as players, developers, or content creators—can apply for the Golden Visa, positioning Dubai as a regional gaming hub.

  5. Religious Scholars and Imams:
In April 2024, Dubai granted Golden Visas to imams, preachers, muezzins, muftis, and religious researchers with 20 years of service, as part of a broader recognition of religious leadership.

  6. Content Creators and Influencers:
Through the Creators HQ platform, Dubai now offers Golden Visas to social media influencers, podcasters, digital creators, and visual artists. The initiative also supports creative industry professionals, including media, marketing, and fashion experts.

  7. Environmentalists (Blue Visa):
The UAE has introduced the “Blue Visa” — a 10-year residency for individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental sustainability. Eligible candidates include environmental researchers, NGO members, award winners, and advocates recognized for global impact.

The expansion of the Golden Visa programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to fostering excellence across sectors and positioning itself as a global destination for top-tier talent and innovation.
