Visual Arts Commission Launches “Art Bridges” Cultural Exchange Programs in Scotland, Japan, South Korea, and Spain

The Visual Arts Commission (VAC) has announced the launch of Art Bridges 2025–2026, a series of four international programs aimed at advancing professional development and cultural exchange for Saudi and Saudi-based visual artists, cultural practitioners, creative professionals, and cultural producers.

Spanning four global destinations, the initiative underscores VAC’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural dialogue, enhancing global connectivity, and supporting the professional growth of Saudi Arabia’s creative community.

The first program, organized in partnership with the British Council Scotland, will take place in Scotland from 22–27 September 2025. Additional programs will follow in:

  • Japan (31 October – 7 November 2025)

  • South Korea (19–27 November 2025)

  • Spain (2–9 March 2026)

Applications for Japan, South Korea, and Spain open on 13 August 2025. The deadline for Japan is 21 August, while South Korea and Spain applications close on 31 August 2025.

Dina Amin, CEO of the Visual Arts Commission, said:

“These professional programs offer Saudi and Saudi-based cultural practitioners a unique opportunity to share their creative voices with the world, reflecting the depth and diversity of Saudi Arabia’s artistic landscape.”

Each program is tailored to its host country’s unique cultural and creative environment, offering participants workshops, studio visits, and dialogue with leading cultural figures. The 2025–2026 thematic focuses are:

  • Japan — Art and the Environment: Responses to natural, urban, and traditional surroundings through material, scale, and site.

  • South Korea — Identity through Art and Community: Grassroots cultural movements, artist-led spaces, and collaborative platforms.

  • Spain — Heritage and Collectivism: Collective practice, heritage, and social purpose in cultural spaces.

Applicants must be over 21, have at least five years of professional experience, a strong portfolio, and English proficiency, with full availability for the program dates.

Through Art Bridges, VAC continues its mission to elevate Saudi Arabia’s cultural presence globally, nurture sustainable creative ecosystems, and build long-term international partnerships.
