UAE Hosts Pioneering Summit to Shape Future of Emerging Tech Governance

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE launched the inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025) in Abu Dhabi, signaling a transformative leap in global tech policy and regulation. Organized by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in strategic partnership with the UAE Public Prosecution, the summit gathered over 1,000 participants from 20+ countries, including lawmakers, tech leaders, and legal experts, to address critical challenges surrounding AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and digital rights.

Driving Global Dialogue on Ethical Tech Advancement

The summit’s opening day featured high-level speakers such as:

  • H.E. Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General

  • H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Strategic Advisor to the UAE President & ATRC Secretary General

  • H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs

  • H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council

  • Chancellor Salem Ali Al Zaabi, Head of Public Prosecution

Discussions covered topics like AI ethics, cross-border data governance, cybersecurity resilience, and post-quantum security. Experts urged stronger collaboration between technology developers and policymakers, with H.E. Faisal Al Bannai stressing:

“Tech organizations must take some responsibility for the technologies they release. It cannot be that they issue it and let society deal with the consequences.”

Launch of UAE Public Prosecution’s AI Strategy 2025–2030

In a milestone announcement, Chancellor Salem Ali Al Zaabi unveiled the Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025–2030 for the UAE Public Prosecution. The forward-looking roadmap aims to:

  • Improve judicial efficiency through AI-driven tools

  • Foster smarter, predictive legal processes

  • Uphold human-centric and ethical justice systems

The strategy aligns with the UAE’s ambition to lead in smart governance and judicial innovation, transitioning from digital to proactive, intelligent judicial environments.

Key Global Recommendations and Highlights

The summit, in collaboration with TRENDS Research & Advisory, issued recommendations including:

  • A global charter for ethical human-AI interaction

  • Empowering youth in tech governance decision-making

  • Strengthening digital trust and cybersecurity as national priorities

  • Accelerating post-quantum encryption preparedness

Special focus was placed on AI inclusivity and linguistic equity, advocating investments in local datasets and AI accessibility to bridge the digital divide.

Industry Collaboration and Participation

GETS 2025 featured participation from global tech leaders like Microsoft, ADNOC, Cisco, Huawei Cloud, and Quantum Gate. During a special session, Jan Hervemiz, CTO of Quantum Gate, emphasized:

“Governance must evolve alongside breakthroughs in AI and quantum computing to ensure secure and responsible digital infrastructure.”
