UAE government workshop highlights importance of employing scenarios as tools to achieve excellence
The UAE government has organised a workshop titled Scenarios planning as tool to shape the future to discuss the importance of strategic planning in achieving government excellence. The event witnessed the participation of 100 specialists in strategic planning and government excellence from various federal government entities.
The workshop was organised to support the federal government entities prepare for the Strategic Plan 2017-2021, training them to make scientific evaluations based on future scenarios and develop integrated systems to shape the future. The workshop was also aimed at enabling the participants to analyse internal and external environment and identify emerging opportunities.
On the occasion, Ohood Al Roumi, Director-General of the Prime Ministers Office, said the event is part of a series of seminars and events being organised with the active participation of government agencies in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to adopt a proactive approach to convert scenarios into innovative solutions that promote government performance to achieve the highest satisfaction levels and increase people's happiness.
She also said the aim of the workshop was to enhance the capabilities of the participants to use innovative ideas to raise efficiency levels and improve services in line with the objectives of UAE Vision 2021. The workshop conducted by the Prime Minister's Office highlighted the importance of employing scenarios as tools to anticipate challenges and future trends to develop effective innovative solutions.
It explained how strategic planning can use scenarios to support the decision-making process and discussed the process of generating innovative ideas by thinking differently through teamwork, especially between different departments and entities, keeping in mind the relationship between shaping the future and excellence in the UAE.
The workshop is part of plans to organise more specialised seminars and workshops led by experts to provide government entities with a set of integrated tools to shape the future.
