UAE AI Office and Samsung Forge Partnership to Boost AI Adoption Among Youth
The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office and Samsung Gulf Electronics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and development among the nation's youth. This collaboration aims to achieve the ambitious goals of the UAE's Artificial Intelligence Strategy, positioning the UAE as a global leader in AI by 2031. The partnership also aligns with Samsung’s objectives to enhance economic growth, contribute to sustainable development, and improve community well-being through AI.
The MOU was signed by Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, and Seong H Cho, President of Samsung Electronics MENA, during the "AI Retreat 2024." This event was organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence.
Saqr Binghalib highlighted the importance of government-private sector partnerships in achieving the UAE’s vision of becoming a leading global AI hub. He emphasized that integrating leading technical expertise with AI knowledge worldwide is crucial for achieving national strategies, building future competencies, and empowering the next generation of AI pioneers.
DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, stated, "Samsung believes in the power of technology and AI to positively impact society. We are proud to partner with the UAE Office of AI to support the UAE's ambitious vision for AI. Together, we will drive AI adoption in government, nurture local AI talent, and demonstrate how AI can be a tool for positive transformation."
As part of the MOU, both organizations will promote AI learning among the youth through initiatives such as integrating Samsung's Innovation Campus (SIC) CSR program into the UAE's AI Summer Camp 2024 and launching the Galaxy AI Pioneers program to train youth in AI.
The Galaxy AI Pioneers program is a month-long course for students aged 13-18, offering an introduction to AI, machine learning, and coding using Python. The curriculum covers key AI concepts, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI robotics, and is delivered in a hybrid online and onsite format. Participants will develop AI applications and receive a certificate from the UAE Office of AI upon completion.
Samsung's Innovation Campus, a global citizenship program, provides ICT education to students and youth. It trains participants in core competencies like AI, IoT, Big Data, Coding, and Programming, alongside soft skills, to foster talented youth who will shape future society.
