Trinasolar and Haala Energy announce project collaboration to advance solar deployment in Saudi Arabia

Trinasolar, a global provider of smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has announced a strategic collaboration with Saudi-based solar developer and installer Haala Energy to support the Kingdom’s clean energy goals and accelerate the deployment of integrated solar technologies.

The collaboration was formalised during a signing ceremony held on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2026. It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritises energy diversification, sustainability and innovation as part of the country’s long-term development strategy.

As part of the agreement, Haala Energy will deliver two agricultural solar projects for Bateel date farms, with a combined capacity of 1.8 megawatts peak (MWp). The projects will be supported by Trinasolar’s fully integrated technology portfolio, including high-performance PV modules, advanced solar trackers and robotic cleaning systems. Together, these technologies are designed to enhance energy efficiency, operational reliability and long-term sustainability for agricultural operations. The projects are expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition, the collaboration includes a 100 kilowatt-peak (kWp) research-focused agrivoltaics pilot project. The initiative aims to support innovation and knowledge development in advanced solar applications, highlighting the growing role of technology-led solutions in the future of clean energy in Saudi Arabia.

Todd Li, Head of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa at Trinasolar, said Saudi Arabia is undertaking one of the world’s most ambitious clean energy transitions. He noted that partnerships such as this one play a critical role in translating national ambitions into tangible outcomes, particularly in key sectors such as agriculture. Li added that the collaboration reinforces Trinasolar’s long-term commitment to the Kingdom and to delivering solutions tailored to local conditions.

Faris Al Sulayman, Co-founder and Executive Director of Haala Energy, said the partnership builds on earlier agrivoltaic research undertaken at Bateel Farms. He highlighted that the deployment of larger-scale projects reflects a shared focus on close collaboration and technology-driven innovation, demonstrating the potential of integrated solutions to deliver reliable, competitive and sustainable energy for farms across Saudi Arabia in line with Vision 2030.

The collaboration further strengthens Trinasolar’s expanding presence across the Middle East and Africa, where the company supports utility-scale, commercial and industrial solar projects, as well as local manufacturing initiatives. Through strategic partnerships and advanced technologies, Trinasolar continues to contribute to national energy strategies and the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable regional energy landscape.
