Travelling from Sharjah This Summer? Airport Expects 800,000+ Passengers, Reveals Busiest Days
Sharjah Airport has announced a major surge in summer travel, expecting more than 800,000 passengers to pass through its terminals between July 1 and July 15, 2025. The airport has implemented a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth operations and reduce delays during what is anticipated to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
To manage the rush, Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) is urging travelers to arrive at least three hours before departure. This buffer allows ample time for check-in, security, and boarding procedures, especially amid heightened passenger traffic.
“Sharjah Airport urges passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their flight to avoid any potential delays in completing travel procedures. Passengers are also advised to communicate with their airlines in advance to verify flight times and any updates,” the authority said in a statement on Saturday.
Increased Summer Travel Demand
The travel spike comes as UAE residents head abroad for their annual summer break, often choosing cooler climates or home country visits. This season’s demand is further boosted by the recent ceasefire in the Iran-Israel conflict, which had caused temporary flight disruptions earlier in June.
Most UAE-based airlines—including Air Arabia, Emirates, and Etihad Airways—have resumed full operations after brief suspensions during the geopolitical tensions. Air Arabia, headquartered in Sharjah, confirmed on June 25 that its suspended routes are being gradually restored as regional airspace reopens.
Enhanced Passenger Support & Smart Services
To accommodate the rise in passengers, Sharjah Airport has intensified 24/7 operations, deploying additional staff to guide travelers, manage inquiries, and ensure the effective use of the airport’s smart travel technologies. These include self-check-in kiosks, automated passport control, and digital boarding pass scanners, aimed at streamlining the travel experience.
The airport joins other UAE hubs like Dubai International Airport, which also issued summer travel advisories urging passengers to use online check-in and arrive early to beat the crowds.
