SLC Secretary General marks International Translation Day 2025 with tribute to translators

H.E. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC), has marked International Translation Day 2025 with a statement highlighting the vital role of translators in bridging cultures, promoting cooperation, and fostering mutual understanding among nations.

Al Muhairi emphasized that translation is far more than the transfer of words between languages—it is the transmission of ideas, values, and shared human experiences across diverse cultural and linguistic landscapes.

In the legal domain, he noted, translation serves as a cornerstone for legislative consistency by standardising terminology, accurately conveying the intent of lawmakers, and reflecting the true spirit of the law. This, in turn, nurtures a culture of compliance, promotes awareness of rights and duties, and supports alignment with global legislative developments.

On this occasion, the SLC extended its appreciation to all translators, particularly those working in the legal and legislative fields, for their dedication and professionalism. Their efforts, Al Muhairi stated, have ensured that knowledge continues to transcend language barriers, preserving and transmitting human creativity across literature, science, thought, and culture.

The statement reaffirmed the SLC’s recognition of translation as an essential tool in shaping legislative progress and strengthening international cooperation.
